Tap allows the dancer to create rhythmic sounds while demonstrating
intricate movements of the feet:
Level I Focuses on basic rhythms using the
feet and simple Tap steps (heel, toe, shuffle . . .).
Level II Focuses on expanding Tap vocabulary.
Intermediate Tap steps are introduced (shuffle hop, buffals,
basic time step).
Level III Focuses on maintaining and expanding
Tap vocabulary. Students should begin to learn longer combinations
and are introduced to advanced Tap steps. Concentrated work
Level IV Advanced combinations and rhythm
technique is taught. Students are encouraged to dance with
the entire body as well as the feet.
