Modern dance allows the dancer freedom of expression:
Creative Movement An introduction to movement
as a form of self-expression for young children. Each student
will be encouraged to use the imagination as a way to explore
their original movement vocabulary, translate idea and object
into movement systems, and gain a sense of self through
games that emphasize leading, giving, receiving, and originating
movement. We also use voice, drawing, and costumes to accent
movement concepts in this class.
Improvisation The development of a theoretical
and physical grasp of improvisation. Work will concentrate
on handing individual movement vocabulary, duet and group
improvising, and improvisation as performance.
